Terra Bioindustries created an extraction process that uses spent grains from breweries to produce protein and fiber products. They collaborated with the Conestoga Food Research & Innovation Lab (CFRIL) to understand how this alternative protein source compares to other protein sources. The Centre for Commercialization (C4C) identified gaps in Terra Bio’s filed patent application.

“Engagement with C4C helped us secure our IP portfolio and allowed us to pursue licensing opportunities to increase our revenues. We are now adding these insights to our IP strategy as we look to apply for divisional patents.” - Ricardo Martinez, President, CPO & Founder, Terra Bioindustries
